Occupational Foot Protection & the NIETC Safety Boot Program
NECA – IBEW ELECTRICAL TRAINING CENTER’S SAFETY TOE BOOT REIMBURSEMENT PROCEDURES
The NIETC safety toe boot program was establsihed to provide a partial cost reimbursement to Local 48 electricians, technicians and material handlers who work on jobsites where safety toe boots are required to work on the customer’s premises. The program is open to all employees of those employers who participate in the NECA-IBEW Electrical Training funding process.
Typical examples include industrial facilities that have established safety toe requirements for their employees and we are performing electrical work in areas subject to that requirement. The program does not cover regular boots required by OSHA on all construction projects, nor any projects that are outside of L.U. 48 jurisdiction.
Employers must verfity that each claim for reimbursement meets this criteria before submittal of a claim form. Employees cannot submit claim forms directly to the NIETC, but must go through their employer representative. Claims may be mailed, faxed, emailed or hand delivered.
All requests for reimbursement must be submitted using the NIETC Safety Boot Claim Form. All required fields must be completed and a copy of the purchase receipt attached or the claim will not be processed.
Employees may claim for reimbursement once every two years and will receive 50% of the purchase price of their boots, not to exceed one hundred dollars. (NOTE – Starting 1/1/25 this benefit will increase from 100$ max to 200$ max)
